Mission Statement
The purpose of The Harleigh Hive is to provide educational resources to individuals affected with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and persons with Individualized Educational Programs (IEP).
Meet Harleigh
Harleigh was diagnosed at 20 months after her parents convinced Harleigh’s Pediatrician for testing, despite hitting all the necessary metrics and benchmarks for a child at 18-months.
Harleigh, now 4 years old, is an absolute bundle of joy!! She takes speech and occupational therapy once a week, along with swim and dance classes. She is talkative, very independent, and enjoys anything that involves climbing, jumping and flipping. She has an extreme love for music and is willing to put on a show anytime her “songs” are being played.
Harleigh loves spending time with her “Sissy”, Harper, whom she absolutely adores. Conversely, big sister Harper protects Harleigh at all cost.
Harleigh is currently enrolled in a state funded Pre-K program with the Cobb County School system which she began at 3 years old in preparation for Kindergarten at 5 years old.
The Harleigh Hive was founded in support of our daughter and the millions of others impacted by Autism.
Meet the Founders
Autism is a cause that my wife and I were supporting prior to our daughter’s diagnosis...we ramped up our support even more after learning she has what we call a different ability! We our avid supporters of @autismspeaksga @autismspeaks and regularly advocate with our state and local government in support of proper funding and services needed to assist individuals and families. There is no one type of Autism, and everyone’s journey is going to be different; this is more than ok! No matter the situation or circumstance, one way we can all support and contribute to the awareness amongst ourselves and others is to treat people with Kindness! So here’s my simple challenge amongst the continuous chaos of the world...#BeeKind. #HarleighHive #AutismDad #GirlDad 💙🧩

Around the one year benchmark, we began to notice some changes in Harleigh. She wouldn’t respond when we would call her name, she would avoid eye contact, and at times seem as if she was in her own world. After months of testing and observation, Harleigh was diagnosed with Autism in September 2018 (20 months). As you can imagine our lives were SHOOK! I was an emotional wreck. I stopped working out, started stress eating, I was running off of 4 hours of sleep because I was reading EVERY article and watch ANY video that had to do with Autism. We immediately enrolled Harleigh in Speech and Occupational therapy, we also began class at the Little Gym and swim lessons, as well as dedicating 30 minutes everyday for in home sessions we conduct ourselves with the help of Big Sister Harper. Over the months, we have seen Harleigh evolve and make strides that moves me to tears. Everyday she does or says something that amazes me.
